canuckle
Hi all! We're new to the fish game, but enjoying it! We're keeping mostly cichlids, with a few monos, danios, and a couple of plecos. Right now we're running a 90g, and have a 180g on the way in January. :w00t: For equipment on the 90, we're running 2 AQ500 (3 layer sponge on one, sponge and carbon on the other), Pro Heat 350 for temp control. On the 180g, we'll be running a corner overflow w/sump. Couldn't agree more on Gold Aquarium, they are excellent. Great to have an Alberta Forum, keep up the great work! Iggyfish
Welcome... I prefer to use 1 AQ 500 (or similar) for high-volume coarse sponge and some bio-filtration (ceramic disks) with a whisper 40 (or any non-bypass) fine floss filter to remove the finer bits. It really seems to help reduce algea growth while never comprimising bio-filter capacity. Food for though.
