Sam Chicklets
How many turtles do you have? How big are they? And how many gallons of water do you have in your tank? I had 4 6" to 8" red eared sliders in my 108 gallon tank with approximately 40 gallons of water and I had to clean the filters once a month or more. I was using a magnum 350 and 2 old style fluval internal filters equivelent to the fluval 3+. Edited May 29, 2007 by Sam Chicklets
Tanker
Whatever you do choose to rinse (best way is to open it up and see what is dirty) make sure you rinse it in treated, dechlorinated water. otherwise you'll nuke the filter and 'uh oh' all over again. My canisters vary in cleaning schedules from once a month to twice a year... it really depends SO much on the specifics, that 'we' all make our own calls on it. There are just too many variables to have a rule of thumb.
turtlechick
thanks everyone!!!! Sounds like I can clean it as often as I want, just use dechlorinated water, right?
