Kevin
Here are my Festae pair. The female was grown from fry from Cichlidkid and the male is F0. They are currently guarding their second clutch. The male is still very young and only about 6 inches. The female is 2 years old and larger. Albertan
Beautiful fish Kevin. What is the substrate in that tank out of curiosity?
Kevin
I just realized you can't see the substrate. It is white crushed marble bigger than sand, but smaller than gravel. It is the sand that restaurants put in ash trays. It probably hardens the water a little, but the KH here is already really high. 40lbs was 8-10 dollars and it is a great size to keep big cichlids with. It stays quite white compared to my last experiment with white (now brown) sand. It can be ordered from Home Hardware. Thanks for the compliments on the photos, I am not a photograher and this was my first experiment with a friends camera. She does not have a macro specific lense. Female festae grow very slowly, but I would estimate the males growth is about double. I am thinking about going back into discus, so the pair may be for sale in the near future.
