Reptillian
I've been on and off caring for fish for the last 15 years, I'm 30 years old, oh geez 20 years god I'm getting old. I wouldn't say that I'm knowlegable or an expert but do have a little experince. At my high point I had 7 tanks and had a breeding pair of discus, that said besides angels and discus I have just recently found the joy of caring for chichlids. I started my 30 gal had it up and running for a week, put in some convicts and next thing I know there's fry swimming about. Wow talk about agressive and protective parents I went to do a water change and the male tagged my hand twice before I even saw it coming :boxer: and then contined to tag the vaccum while I cleaned the tank. I'm in the middle of cycling a 75 gal tank that I'm looking to turn into a "community" chichlid tank, any suggestions would be welcomed. I think flowerhorns are gorgeous however have neither the space or experince to deal with these fish, I also like Jewels, Green terror's, Jack Dempsy's so with that in mind I would love to hear some suggestion's for combinations to keep. Well hi to all just a little of my experince Joe
Sam Chicklets
:welcome: Jewels are african gts and jds are central american and not really community fish. There is a fair variety of south american cichlids that can become a community fish.

darkangel
Flowerhorns are very nice fish, IF they are the only one in the tank. I had a breeding pair of flowerhorns and the male at 6 inches broke a 1/4 inch thick glass top and dragged a full grown cat into the tank when they had fry in there. Needless to say the cat never whent over to that tank again.
