This species is native to Lake Kyoga and Lake Nawampasa. It's a herbivore that inhabits the shallow plantes areas of the lakes. These fish are only 2" in size but can grow up to a size of 6". The male will become more red as he grows.

The male is trying to impress the female.

Finally he manages to get her over to the most romantic place in the tank. The sponge filter.

Here we go.

I have several females that are ready to spawn. In this case the male managed to lure two females with him to the sponge.... but it got too complicated for him and he could not figure out what to do.

Nice series Patrick. Too bad the fish didn't pick a nicer spot :eh:

Yeah I know... it seems that they really like the sponges (4 females holding know!).

My "Ruby Greens" also used the sponges to spawn on.

Here are a few more pics. This guy never stops. I think he has spawned with a different female every day this week...

I know some of you have asked for these, don't worry there will be plenty...

In the rigth light and angle this guy looks amazing, and he is only a bit over 2 inches
