gobies et al
alright so i have no clue how to edit everything on my last post so im just making a new one...i have no clue what these 2 fish are and these are the pics ive got of them(better this time)...http://i348.photobucket.com/albums/q357/ro.../untitled66.jpg http://i348.photobucket.com/albums/q357/ro...untitled666.jpg I am no expert when it comes to cichlids but I would say it's amphilophus labiatus or otherwise known as Red Devil Cichlid. What's the verdict?

Slough Shark
Definitely not a Cichlid, looks like some member of the Gourami family. Edited July 22, 2008 by Slough Shark
t-man
Definitely not a Cichlid, looks like some member of the Gourami family. Red Tailed Giant Gourami? Maybe?
gobies et al
In support of my suggestion look at: http://www.aquariumlife.net/profiles/centr...evil/100044.asp http://www.aqua-fish.net/show.php?h=reddevilcichlid The Giant Gourami has a relatively short dorsal fin, definitely doesn't extend to the end of the caudal fin. http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_Osphronemus_goramy.php The pictured red fish doesn't have the feelers under the chest of the gouramies. Qattarra
I agree it looks cichlidish from the fins, kinda gouramilike by the shape and eye. Possibly a jewel cichlid cross with no spangling?
Ross
yea gobies i looked at those picture lijnks...and then at my fish for a long time...and there not those lol
Vallisneria
Doesn't look like a cichlid to me, Looks similar to a gouramis or a big, non striped paradise fish. Where did you buy this fish? Edited July 22, 2008 by degrassi
Sam Chicklets
How about this for a match? Combtail Paradise fish http://www.petsource.org/Aquatic/Breeds/Fr...20Paradise.aspx http://www.asianaquariums.com/jpg/indigeno...%20Paradise.jpg
earlyriser
The combtail looks pretty close. I agree with the gourami guesses. How big is it?
African_Fever
I'd lean towards Belontia signata as well. http://www.fishbase.org/identification/spe...9&areacode=
gobies et al
I agree. Great match with the Combtail Paradise fish! Good going! What is the temperament like with those fish? very aggressive? passive? territorial?
Ross
they do litrally nothing but swim out to get food then go back to hiding behind plants, and i got them from my girlfriend who bought an aquarium to put her gerbils in and the guy had fish to give away so i threw em in my tank...dont know what they are but was hoping to trade the fish i got for some angel fish cause i like those better :P...the guy told me he didnt remember what they were but they were from big als...and that Belontia signata looks exactly like them when i looked at some more pics of them on google Edited July 23, 2008 by Ross
firestorm
gourami and paradise fish are all in the same family as the betta. My first guess would have been some type of gourami.
