SomethingFishy
Bought a used tank that needs some cleaning up....how can I get rid of the hard water deposits on top edges of tank without using fish-deadly chemicals? Thanks all, Heather
Qattarra
There's a product called "neutralizer" which I use watered down by 1/2. Just spray on and rinse off. It is sold as a floor stripper neutralizer and has all natural ingredients . You could use high potency vinegar and a no scratch scrubby but this way takes a bit of elbow grease. PintoHawk
I always use vinegar & water, no-scratch scrubby, and elbow grease. Works beautifully.

Ishkabod
Where can you buy that nutrilizer because i have hard water stains on my plastic that I've scrubbed for hours with vinegar and a scratch pad and i still can't get it off. It sounds like the best bet to me. L

Qattarra
I've been trying to remember who it was who arranged a group buy for one of the ACE auctions. The price was in the $20 range . I'll see if I can find more info on the product and possibly a source.
nyb440
You could try muriatic acid (HCl, about 6 M, I think) available at hardware stores. Use gloves, of course, but it should be more effective than vinegar. If it's rinsed well, there's nothing to worry about in terms of toxicity (unless they've added come other compound to the mix that I'm not aware of). Vallisneria
We should do another group buy. That stuff is amazing and I only have half a jug left. I use it on everything, tanks, litter boxes(cleans crusty pee like a wonder ), anything with calcium crust, the bathtub and sink!
