Baos
Anyone had a problem with all-glass lids breaking due to light heat? I have 2 t5's with nothing special about them. Though they arn't sealed in a plastic container and are proped above the tank. Anyways both my lids are cracked from heat(I can touch the lights with my fingers). I would like to purchase some better quality glass(of the same measurement) that can take some heat because the stuff provided isn't up to par. My tank is an allglass 90 gallon with the two panes on the top.
rocker85675
i've busted a few and i suspected heat was the culprit. i got them re-cut and no problems. i think the pieces were just old and maybe a little bit brittle
4runr
I had one break years ago on my 60 - had the glass shop cut a thicker replacement. Helped cut down on noise too. Edited January 24, 2009 by 4runr
jvision
I too have had glass tops break due to T5 heat... I usually prefer open-top, and now I really prefer it!
Mike1234
Just had mine crack on my bowfront!
Parachromis1
My Oceanic has 300 watts of lighting on it, power compacts actually. They get HOT! Just use a thicker glass piece, that way it won't break next time.
