Larlor
Hi everyone. After i attended the auction on sunday i went over to chums and picked up some tropheus "cherry spots". Got a great deal. Wish i could have got more. Yesterday two were doing their dance and now i have a female with a mouthfull. My question is how long do you let tropheus hold before stripping them? ÐÉÅÑ
Larlor, just wondering how many did you get?
Larlor
I picked up 5 Duboisi maswa and 5 cherry spots. I wish i could have picked up some more but short on cash at the time. I'm thinking i should have maybe picked up 10 of one kind but opted for 5 and 5. Maybe in the near future i can add some more. Is it difficult to introduce new ones to an already established tank? Thanks Larry
African_Fever
Larry, Tropheus are NOTORIOUSLY hard to add extras to established groups, though with your's being such small groups, you may be able to get around it. How large of a tank are you keeping them in, and with what, if any tankmates? They're just about where the 'buy more than you want and thin down later' rule comes from. Most people experienced with Tropheus recommend starting off with at least 20, preferrably as many as 30 and thinning the group as problems arise and they grow up. But there are always exceptions to the rule; when I was first starting off I had 2 Tropheus duboisi in a 55 with 5 fronts, and everything did great until they all outgrew the tank! Good luck with them, you'll have to keep us posted on how things go!
xlonelycruiserx
yeah. once a group is established, it is very hard to add new groups members without agressions... that happened to my peudostropheus trewvanses... hope you the best with how the stripping goes. hung
ÐÉÅÑ
The one thing you could do is add a group equal or larger than the first.
