somnio
i am getting ready to move my angels that have been in quarantine for the past 3-4 weeks... what i would like to do is to move my my bettas to the 10 gal so the angels can have the 15 gal before i move them to the 50gal ( still unsure if i'm going to do this... i have a larger angel in their already and i don't want it to kill these angels. the ph in the betta tank is 8.0 and in the quarantine tank its 7.8, i drip acclimate my fish but i was wondering how to lower the ph in the betta tank? Baos
You can kill your fish worrying about .2 of a ph. ph shock is actually less about ph and more about sudden changes in chemicals. Also called osmotic shock.
firestorm
With the pH that close together, I would suggest just putting the fish in a bucket with some of his tank water, then pouring a couple of cups of the other tank water into that bucket and let him sit for about 15 minutes. Alot of the shock also has to do with temperature differences. With that small of a difference though I imagine they should be fine.
randy
Test you tap water or what ever water you use for water changes. If it is less than the 8 in the betta tank do extra water changes and it will bring it down.
Vallisneria
Your fish will be fine with a change of .2 If you are really concerned, then you can drip acclimate them in a bucket before transferring them over.
