EowynJane
I have yellow labs and acei in a 55 gallon, I've noticed some of my fish have verticle stripes on them. I'm not sure what they are but I've heard of cichlids getting something called breeding bars? They sure are breeding, but I'm also worried that they could be a sign of stress... anyone know how to tell for sure?
Wingin' It
wierd. Though I think some female yellow labs sometimes gets some barring, but I don't recall ever seeing any on the acei?
jvision
If you're not letting your females take a break between breeding, the stress could build up and cause them to bar.
EowynJane
How do you let them take a break?
jvision
Put them in a different tank. I usually move a holding mom to a 10gal after about 2weeks of holding. Then let her fatten up a bit after spitting before putting her back in the main tank.
