MbunaFan
Just got three parrot fish last week and now two seem to be protecting the back corner of the tank that has little white round things stuck to the wall. Could those be eggs? Or should I be concerned about something else?
dk77
do you have nerite snails? they put tons of little white eggs on the glass too.
MbunaFan
No, no snails in the tank, just 3 parrot fish and a couple of clown loaches
jvision
Your parrots will lay about 50-200 eggs, usually in a circular pattern on a hard surface. If they stay white, they're probably infertile; however, if they turn yellowish, then you could have some fry soon.
MbunaFan
Thanks, if they do turn yellow, should I try to move them to a separate tank, do they need frequent water changes, do you have to add anything else to the water, what do you feed when they hatch, etc? We weren't expecting this so I need all the info I can get!
jvision
If the tank only has 3 parrots, then maybe move the odd one out - the parents may do well and take care of the kids. Feed the babies crushed flake/pellets, BabyBrineShrimp, or whatever small food you have available. Keep up the weekly WCs, and the babies should grow.
