JORG
I wouldn't use poplar ever if my memory is correct it leaches creosote
Jayba
I would think if it's aged and the bark is all off. Boil it for an hour to leach all the contaminants out of it, you should be fine.
Wingin' It
are you relatively sure that it hasn't been in any polluted water? or come into contact with anything potentially harmful? If you're sure it hasn't, then I would say go ahead!
JORG
Well it's 2 against 1- I suggest you research it as all my research has told me --Do not use Poplar wood in aquariums--- if I am wrong I'm lubing up the chain saw and getting me some sweet pieces
jvision
Poplar is pretty soft, and would deteriorate in the tank quite quickly.

Morphine
I'm jumping on the NO train as well, I think it would be more of a hassle to boil, treat sink only to remove it when it starts to rot!! It is soft. If it was found near the Sask river I wouldn't put it near your fish tank, You would have 3 eyed, 2 bodied flying fish on your hands!!
