Raven
I've started getting the larger 50G up and running. It's being filtered by a Fluval 305.... and I'm so not used to the water not being dropped on water. It's developing a surface slim on the water and I'm not sure how to adjust the Fluval to break the surface tension. It's not making it look to pretty right now..... Suggestions?? Wingin' It
You can do a few things: 1. adjust the hose so that it sits higher up on the tank 2. add a surface skimmer to the intake 3. add a large airstone to agitate the surface I personally added 2 large airstones to my 6 ft tank...one on each end. jvision
If it has a spray-bar, aim it up on a 30 degree angle, and that should solver your problem. Another way is to feed less, but who wants to starve their fish???
Raven
It doesn't have a spray bar like Rena filters do. I'll try moving it up later... What's a surface skimmer?
laurensdad
you can twist the flex hose up a but and it should aim ok or shorten the hose in the tank so it is up a bit
Wingin' It
A surface skimmer is an attatchement you add to the intake that sucks water down from the surface.
