Ted
Hubby and I want to start a small salt tank and a friend has offered some live rock that is sitting in a pail, no water circulation. Is this more like "dead" rock because of the poor circulation (bacteria not getting a good flow of oxygenated water? How should we deal with this?) Thanks Theresa

jeremoose
How long has it been in the pail for?
jvision
If the tank hasn't been set up yet, then you can put the rock in te tank and you can 'cure' it there. But, yes it is probably 'dead'
soaptray
If you add some other "live" rock and "live" sand it will spread onto any other sand and rocks that you put in your tank over time.
