FW fish eggs tend to be quite large, so reg should be visible, but if they are small, they may look like a mist coming from the fish. They would like get really light in colour, then they would kind of rub up against each other like that, then break off, and kind of spar, like yours are doing. Mine would turn almost a metallicy silver colour, cool to watch, then 1 of them died when I took my tank down, and the other one hasn't done it since.
