Tanker
I am looking for suggestions of smaller predator fish... Prefer something that will be comfortable in a 20 gallon for now, and as a fully grown fish would be happy in a 33. My girlfriend loves sharks, etc but I can't find anything that won't grow to bigger than 6" or so. Even a smaller cat would be fine (no, not a red tail...) as long as it's primary source of food is other fish. Would also prefer a pair of them, so something that must be kept alone is no fun at all...
rudy
How about puffers? Figure eights or something smaller.
Tanker
We have two dwarfs, currently, and may get two fig8's once I find an LFS with two that are not too beat up from fighting. Puffers eat fish? Well, I mean, of course they 'eat' them... but do they actually do it as food, or just for kicks?
fatpuffer
main food supplies are crustaceans and inverts...fish if they are desperate. try rainbow snakeheads...grows max 6 inches... js

Toirtis
Exodons! I second the leaf-fish, but suggest the African species over the SA: http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/SpeciesSummary.cfm?id=9917 Also, Microctenopoma make great small predators. windeindoiel
Lol I was going to suggest a leaf fish too. Nandids are pretty cool looking. And they eat fish. And you could get two that would be fine in a 20 gal for life. Dwarf puffers don't eat fish, but are still very interesting predators. I have 4 and I'd highly recommend them. Piranha Man
Exodons. Wicked feeding frenzies.
Vallisneria
Piranha man is that your tank? How big is it and how many fish are in there?
Piranha Man
No, just one I would like to have. I can't remember where I got the pic. There's a hundred in that tank is all I remember. Putting your hand in that tank would be like putting your hand in a hornets nest. :boxed:
FishGeek
I'd suggest some Butis Butis. Neat little predator, kinda funny seeng how they swim around and orient themselves in the tank. Guess that's why they call 'em "Crazy Fish". Shawnessy Petland has some at 3-4"
