So have this pleco that I have no idea what it is, and recently he/she/it has decided to change colors on me so thought I would see if anyone could identify, the parts where it shows orange on the edge of fins have recently also turned white but then can switch back to orange and it didn't really come in but he also gets a lightened strip across several parts of his main body part that come and go, will try to get more pics tonight, the last 3 show his body and the first 2 his mouth and belly and no he is not missing a fin he just likes to play shy :)

Im just super curious as to where the orange came from and why it turns white when he is disturbed , ive had commons before and they never had any orange and never changed colors or got light stripes over top the main pattern, basically really want to find another just like him

Go to planet catfish and look up the different Hypostomus spp. You might be able to peg down exact species there.

Seems like he looks a lot like our pleco. I thought something was up and it couldn't just be a common but with further research I seem to be dead wrong. Here's what our pleco looks like.
