blow
Any suggestions for lighting a nano planted tank (10" x 10" x 10", 4.3g / 16L). I'd like to keep HC and use Excel rather than CO2. Seems like most fixtures are at least 12" long. I'd prefer something under 10". Thanks! jeremoose
Purchase a little desktop lamp and put a daylight (6500k) CFL in it. Done deal!
blink
Fluval also has a light that is bundled in their flora/ebi kit that works well for that size of tank. Can be found for $40 new or $20 used, a little steep but it works. Or you can go to home depot and buy a clamp lamp and daylight cfl for about $10-15. It's kind of ugly but it works great. Cgy_Betta_Guy
and just a note on that Fluval light... if you buy it I think you are stuck picking up their proprietary replacement bulbs as they changed the shape of it enough so that a normal replacement wont fit into the fixture. Ugh, leave it to Fluval. They are the Apple of the aquarium world.
jvision
You can get some 12W LEDs that screw into an incandescent socket for a decent price on eBay - Sprucegruve is the resident expert on which ones to buy.
