I contacted the owner who was kind enough to pass this info along to me...also allowing it to be reposted. I have not tried this as I do not own this filter...so this info is given as is. I have one FX5 with this mod and was able to fit just over 10L of biomedia in with 1" of filter floss and a 2" coarse sponge. I didn't do the last step, but its been running for about 8mos and haven't had a purging problem at all.
