Saw this and wanted to know if anyone on here has something like this running? Ive been thinking about going sump but was wanting a way to try it out first without actually drilling my tank, making a permanent change to it.

Any one have any comments about this idea?

no problem been on that site now for almost 2 years learned quiet a bit there and everyone is very helpful, that's where I learned most of the stuff need to build my 240 gallon plywood and glass tank, and all it's filtration and lighting systems.

  • 5 weeks later...

I ran one of those when I first setup my 10g but I ran it w/o the extra pump that primes the syphon and it was a pain to get primed properly. I then went to an acrylic build that is like the eshops hang on unit and found that problematic as well, buy at least I could see when I was getting bubbles in there. I finally got fed up and built an external overflow box out of glass and cut down the side of my tank... While it was running. This setup is super reliable. It doesn't rely on syphon to work. I love it. I really like the sump too. I can clean my stuff and it isn't a pain... Which means I'll rinse my media every 2 weeks. :)
