JHG
I had a few questions about the aforementionned powerhead. A colleague at work gave me this powerhead, which I plan on testing later on today, but I noticed it was missing the "Venturi air regulator and air hose". Will the powerhead run smoothly without it? I can't see why not. What benefit does the Venturi regulator provide if any? Does anyone know where I can buy the missing pieces? Thanks J
rahim101
It should run fine without the venture...and a whole lot quieter too
thefishdude
Agreed - it will work fine for water flow without the tubing - if you want the air/flow combination you can just add regular air hose into the hole for the tubing to get the exact same result
JHG
Do any of you run a powerhead in your African cichlid tanks? I'm planning on using this for a Bristlenose pleco breeding tank. At leat that's the idea.

Vallisneria
I have a powerhead in my african tank. I like the extra current it gives the tank and it put it close to the surface to help with water movement and air exchange.
arixonbarnes
I stick a piece of flexible tubing over my powerhead intake and then put a foam filter pad over the intake. Keeps the unit from plugging up and adds extra filtration.
