McTurtle
I think I have Nymphaea rubra... red leaves on my lily anyway. It's sending up a flower which has now reached the top of the water. I've moved the lid of the tanks so that is has a little more room, but if it goes much farther it will hit the light. Anyone have this happen to them/ know what the flower looks like? I'm so curious/ impatient!!! Edited February 24, 2014 by McTurtle

creekbottom
I have to say, I was kinda disappointed. But it is slightly fragrant.

Yeah... it's a lotus, not a lily, so you're not going to get those nice big tea-cup sized blossoms.

jewels
since none of my other aquatic plants have bothered to before. ,,,and may never again ??? You Lucky Duck ! I have had the same plant for more than six years now - never have I seen a blossom. Both of your above photo's are fantastic by the way . The calm water and subtle reflections in the second one, I find very relaxing.
creekbottom
In order for it to flower, the pads have to reach the surface.
jewels
I have completely covered a four foot 75G three pads deep. Still - no flowers.
