With Already Hard Water Do I Need To Worry About Limestone?

Recommended Posts

My tap water (edmonton) kH 7-8, gH 11-12. I was hunting at Canar today and came upon 'Alberta Rust'. They didn't know where it came from or if it was limestone or not.

I'm wondering if it will really alter water parameters that much considering our water is already rock hard.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

They gave me a couple of samples and I've got them soaking now and I'll keep testing to find out.

I believe limestone buffers around 8.6, maybe higher. In your already alkaline water, it will likely take a while to get up there, and with large regular WCs, there's a likelihood you'll never see it change much at all.
