eroy1978
Good evening, I am a beginner, and I did not find a topic concerning broken trim in the forum. My fish tank have both trim broken, I did not imagine 2 pieces of plastic can help holding the structure together, but before putting some water, I want to be sure. On internet some people say that is just for decoration and some other say it is very important. So If someone can give a right answer ... I will appreciate to not have 70 gallon of water on my floor !!! Thanks a lot Manu
SuperGuppyGirl
In my experience I have a standard 75G tank with no plastic trim and going strong for 5 years now, but it does have a metal brace across top.

jvision
The plastic trim around the tank does nothing structurally; however ,the trim that goes across the top may prevent bowing.
eroy1978
Thank you for you answer, I found out on this forum http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-203106.html that the trims are just made to help during the construction and after that they don't hold anything else after that... Good evening ! Manu
