RD.
Someone with a very large pond and who lives in a tropical climate ......... And Arapaima can easily grow beyond 8ft in captivity. According to those that have kept them they can reach over 6ft within 2 yrs when properly cared for. My two year old measured a touch over 2 meters and is growing like a weed. In the eight to ten year old range, they are over 9-10 feet and still growing.I work with captive arapaima in the US doing growth studies, feeding research, transport research and documenting almost anything I can. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?168521-The-true-size-of-Arapaima-gigas Edited November 4, 2014 by RD. joeysgreen
Converted basements make pretty cool massive enclosures. I'd love to see some pictures of these monsters and their aquariums if you are keeping them. Ian
