jus_sum_guy
Anyone have any idea what type of snail this is and if they are bad?
ckmullin
Looks like ramshorn to me. You will get people that post on here that all snails are evil however try not to look at snails in that light. Snails within a planted tank are very important as we need to mimic a natural environment within a few pieces of glass next to your TV. Rams, MTS and pond snails I consider all fine for planted tanks. In a caveat I will add if you over feed a tank you are feeding the snails more than fish. Snails will reach an equilibrium with the available food...more food more snails if you get my drift. So what I'm saying is that people with stories about snail nuclear explosions 99% of the time the tank is overfed. These three snails will happily dine on dead and decaying plant matter which will only benefit us. btw, looks like some nice hygro plant species! WickedOdie
+1 ramshorn As stated above in a planted tank I find all 3, ramshorn, mts, and pond snails to be vital to the balance of a tank.
Vimmer
Definitely a ramshorn and snails are good in any tank planted or not. Population explosions let you know there's over feeding or algae issues. Decking populations may be indicators of water quality problems or under feeding.
