  1. Bba is usually a sign of unstable co2, or not enough co2. It could also be a sign that you have too much lighting.
  2. I'm getting out of the dirted tank business and I was thinking of buying either Ada, eco complete, or fluval stratum. However, I can't find a place to buy it cheap. No matter what I buy, it's going to cost about 400 to redo the substrate in my 90 gallon. Anyone know a better solution? I'm in Calgary.
  3. I'd see who has some and try to get them from a forum member. They will be much cheaper if not free, depending on who you get them from.
  4. Welcome to the forums! If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask!
  5. Maybe look into EI dosing when your next shipment comes in. It's pretty cheap, 40 bucks for a years supply pretty much, and I wish I had started it sooner.

    Hello

Welcome, especially to the planted community! It's a great hobby, I hope you enjoy it. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!
  7. Before Haircut After Haircut: Some trimmings on the right hand side I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with. Moon lighting!!!
  8. Thank you very much, I plan to give it a nice trim tomorrow, I'll post an updated picture.
  9. I have a fluval 406, and when I was doing research on fluval, I read somewhere that they get really hot and that the lids actually heat up and warp a bit causing them to make noise. Is it possible that yours has warped a little causing it to do this? Do you have an extra filter for the time being? Some filtration is better than none.
  10. Surprisingly it's already had a trim 9 days ago. It's ready for another one on sunday when I do my big water change. Details: FERTS: I've started EI dosing of dry ferts 1 tsp KN03 3x a week, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday 5/16 tsp KH2P04 3x a week, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday 5/16 tsp Trace Elements 3x a week, Monday, Wednesday, Friday I do plan to find some K2SO4 and start dosing that for the extra potassium CO2: My drop checker runs at lime green, which for my tank is about 5 bps of CO2. I distribute it via a reactor. The CO2 comes on 1 hour before lights are on, and turns off an hour before lights go out. LIGHTING: 9 hours 4 t5ho 6400 sunblaster bulbs, comes on at 9am-Noon then off, then back on at 3pm-9pm I'm thinking about changing this to Noon-9pm, and possibly raising the photo period. The plants are getting tons of food right now. My plants tend to pearl for most of the day, but it's really noticeable around 6pm
  11. Hey! Welcome to the site and nice to meet you! I hope you enjoy your stay.
  12. Oh I see you're in Sylvan Lake. Well if you ever find yourself around the Airdrie area, lemme know. I'll throw some trimmings your way if you're interested. Trim days are usually Sundays.
  13. I can't really tell no lol. But where are you located? Calgary by chance?
  14. Industrial Plastics and Paint SW Calgary. It's about the only place to get it.
  15. mines about 2 weeks old, waited for it to get established a bit, just trimmed the tops yesterday. Let the growing commence! hah. Worst comes to worse, my baby tears are doing good, i'll just carpet with those. :P
  16. Yeah I'd definitely go with plants, but with he nature of cichlids and uproot plants, I'd be much more inclined to use fake ones.
  17. Lush, I love them. Cant wait for my DHG to grow in half that nice.
  18. I like it. Are you opposed to using fake plants? Might add some depth and color to it that way.
  19. Dirts the way to grow! Personally I'm a fan of rainbows. So if it was my 75, id be making a rainbow tank. Or if I wasn't going to go planted, then I'd definitely go cichlid tank.
  20. Very nice, I really like some ideas you guys come up with.
  21. I'd say the stems were less than 10 inches when I got them. 8 days ago. They are almost 20 inches tall now. I'm very impressed.
  22. Rummynose? Are you going planted?
  23. I wasn't expecting much form this plant to be honest. I did some research, and I read it wasn't the easiest plant to take care of. In all honesty, it has taken me by surprise. I planted it exactly a week ago and it has had phenomenal growth. All my plants have, but I'm focusing more on this cabomba red. I heard there is some purple stuff out there, I'm interested in some of that for sure. This is right after I planted it. Looks dull and the tank was in need of a cleaning, Sunday WC day! Now forgive my camera, it dos this plant no justice. even my green cabomba right under it looks lush and great. Love this plant! I almost want a full tank of it!
  24. Thank you, I tried to blend the best I could. I'm actually wondering how long I want my jungle val. I kinda like how it flows.
