PrincessVee11
Hi, I recently purchased a 160 Gallon tank with a sump underneath thinking that this would be easier that canister I was using before. Looking for some help about what media to put in the sump as well as where to put it. When I received the tank it had very little instruction and I cannot find anything online with the same sump as I have. Right now I am using bioballs and 2 socks that were with the sump when it was delivered, my water is not clear and if i turn off the sump it blows out a bunch of "gunk" when I power it back on. I have attached a crude drawing of my sump for reference. Thanks!
jvision
If it were mine, I'd put some kind of coarse mechanical filter media in where your bioballs are, and fill the middle chamber with biomedia (nylon scrubbies from the dollar store work well)
zoopkamol
Second the scrubbies. Cheapest media there is for surface area-> $$ value
PrincessVee11
Thanks very much, I bought some filter floss for now and the tank looks so much better and clearer than yesterday.
