chlwong
So recently, there's this floating plant that's been multiplying in one of my tanks. I like the look of it so I moved a handful to another one of my tanks. Does anyone know the name for this thing?
jvision
I'm fairly certain that's duckweed... normally, it's more of a lobe-shaped leaf, but I've seen that show up quite a few times. It loves light and nitrogen... it will spread, and is quite hard to get rid of b/c it can regenerate from a part of a leaf or root. Under it's best conditions, duckweed can double every 4 hours!!! biodives
and the very thin vertical unbranched roots also suggest duckweed. I have them and like them. If they are as good in removing nitrogen as Jason says, then I like them even more. And they remove waste products without competing for CO2, as they take that from the air. chlwong
Interesting!! Honestly didn't know it was duckweed. I thought that the leaves were too thin. I think I prefer this stuff over salvinia just by how it looks. Thanks guys!
