Vallisneria
Is the sand in the bucket straight out of the bag? IF so its definately cleaner and it has a bigger grain size then the stuff i bought even though the bag looks the same. Mine was very fine and dirty
RD.
Yes, that's straight out of the bag. One thing that I found out today, Target makes numerous mesh sizes of play sand, as well as numerous colors, some natural, some not natural, such as solid blue, red, and/or yellow. RD.
FYI - if anyone is looking for this substrate, Totem appears to also carry it. I just picked up 2 bags here in Red Deer, and it's the exact same mesh size, and just as clean, as the bag shown on the previous page. Thanks again for the tip Ryan! fatpuffer
Would those sand be okay in a tank with HOB filter? Js
RD.
I run AC filters in all of my tanks, and as long as you don't use the extra intake extension, no problem.

DAlberta
Target Playsand can be found at the big box hardware stores for about $5 a bag. If you are in Calgary go to Target's office and check out all the different types of substrate for tanks. They have about 20 different types selling for about $8 to $10 a 50 lb bag. They have samples right in the office. Cash and carry folks Much cheaper than what the pet stores sell Dave
