secretlaw
Which one is nicer or what are the differences?
punman
You mean S fryeri vs C azureus? I've had both, the males are bright blue in both cases. Color-wise maybe a slight edge to S fryeri but they are a bit more aggressive so if in a "community" mix, I'd go with the C azureus (Electric blue 2). secretlaw
So how many male and female shold I keep in a 140g tank?
Vallisneria
Are you only planning on putting this one species in the 140g? Or do you have other fish also?
dunl
Both are stunning in their own way, and the fryeri also come in an iceberg variant, with a white stripe down their top. The azureus are more tolerant of other males than fryeri.
punman
In both cases I had 1M 3F. Depends if you want breeders or not.
k9outfit
I have 2 males of both the Sciaenochromis fryeri (1 Iceberg, 1 not) and 2 Cop. azureus. I find that both the male fryeri are moderately aggressive/dominant, whereas 1 azureus is a complete wienie that has to be kept with juvies else he'd probably suffer a nervous breakdown, and the other azureus is one of the most aggressive fish I own. So from my experience, if you're willing to gamble as per temperament, go for azureus, if not, go for fryeri. Better yet, why not both? :smokey:
