Toirtis
Does anyone know of a Canadian company/individual who breeds and sells freshwater stingrays? The only breeders I know of are in the US and Europe....a few dealers hee, though.....what species are you looking for?
windeindoiel
Some nice looking motoras would be good to start with. I would adore a pair of Leopoldi's (I'm well aware of how hard they are to get now lol). The boyfriend wants Tigers but I'm not really fond of that idea, and he wants Henlei's too. I'd settle for Henlei's if Leo's prove impossible.
Toirtis
Lots of good motoros around Calgary (Golds, Riverfront), and henlei are available from time to time....leopoldi are next to impossible, and screaming spendy ($1600-$3500 each when available, and more expensive every month) even directly from hobbyists, which is very rare these days...and WCs simply do not happen anymore (which is why prices skyrocketed). Jags and tigers are only available from specialised dealers, and blasted expensive themselves.

Possibly, but Brazil has barred them from export for almost 2½ years already, so its not like any are coming out of there now.
windeindoiel
Riverfront is a little too expensive for my liking. We've bought 2 really gorgeous motoras from gold's but they've both died before we even picked them up. Plus I suspect that Dennis is mislabelling things purposely. He had the one motora labelled as a pearl. I agreed on the $400 because it was an extra gorgeous marbled motora. He also has something labelled as a Hawian stingray, I've never heard of those before though and it looks a lot like a retic. Anyways, if anyone is interested he's selling his two tigers, but the male isn't eating very well so he doesn't think that one will make it. He says the female is doing well though. We've decided we aren't fond of what Calgary has to offer so we're looking elsewhere.
Earthgirl
Where are you? I know of two stores that are selling motoros (one is priced at $260), a male hystrix and pair of leos priced at $1000-1500 a pair or $550 for a 12" disk and $800 for a 22" disk -roll- Nothing is impossible just must be willing to pay for it my dear
Toirtis
Riverfront is a little too expensive for my liking. Nice and cheap on 2for1 Saturday, though. pair of leos priced at $1000-1500 a pair or $550 for a 12" disk and $800 for a 22" disk If that is the case, you should scoop them up ASAP...they are easily worth 3-4 times that...assuming that they are leos and not henlei...especially at that size. fatpuffer
This person is selling a leopoldi...he or she is from winnipeg though. Hi There; I am new to this website and was given it's location by Kurt at the Pembina Petland. I am sure alot of you know him. I am thinking about changing my tank to a cichlid tank and am interested in selling the fish that I currently have in there. He said my best bet would be to let you guys know and I could find a good home for them. They are all in excellent health and have great coloring. This is what I have to sell: 1 6 - 8" leopoldi stingray 1 large fire eel 3 large kissing goramis 3 large bala sharks 3 large tinfoil barbs 1 large columbian shark Please let me know if you are interested. I would like $400 OBO for the stingray and $75 OBO for the fire eel. The rest I will part with for $20 each or $50 if you take all three of the goramis, barbs, or balas. http://www.winnipegfishforum.info/forum/in...hp?topic=6913.0 Js

rudy
I have got an Otorongo castexi male that has bred with an Otorongo Motelo female. Should have pups soon enough. As far as golds. I can't imagine that they are labelling Motoros as Pearls. Was this the ray referred to when you were talking about buying it? There is a hawaii ray I just can't seem to get the scientific name right now. They are also reffered to as white rays. Problem with common names is they are usually adapted from wholesalers and limited knowledge. For instance my male castexi was sold as a Jaguar Ray and my Motelo female was refered to as a pearl ray, but when I called bullshit they called it a turtle ray. I think the biggest issue with rays is only buying them when they have been in captivity for a long time. I knock on wood have never lost a ray, but I am very hesitant to buy them as well unless they have been in captivity for 6 months or over.
