Cap'n
Anybody know where I can find slate around the Calgary area?
Yasper
Check out Burnco. We picked up well over 100 lbs of rundle rock there for 20 bucks or so. It is a dark flat rock like slate so that could be an option. HAHA! before posting, I checked their website, and they have several types of slate: http://www.burnco.com/RetailWeb/web/retail...type=03&siteid=
Cap'n
That's exactly what I want. Thanks for the link. About how much did it cost you?
Yasper
Around 20 bucks, and I think we got 110 to 120 lbs. We selected from a pile that the rock was 1" to 3" in thickness, not sorted. It's a bit more expensive if you choose from the sorted piles, like all 1 inch or all 2 inch thicknesses. Which worked out well as we were looking for assorted sizes anyway. Dammit Jim, we're decorating a fishtank, not building a sidewalk!
Nandopsis
Well since you live in calgary. There is more than enough places to get free slate. Question: Where is this magical place that gives away free slate? Answer: The mountains, A river bank, or stream. (Just make sure you don't take any from a national park.) Cap'n
I like both options. Lets see if there's hiking and driving weather in the next couple weeks and decide from there. Thanks
