Oxquo
What cichlids are best at mothering these awesome cats, also if they could be nice enough not to kill the bunch at the same time. This is My first crack at these guys and I want to ensure the ultimate success. I have P. Saulosi that breed like mad but fear their mouth is no where big enough, any other suggestions. Vallisneria
I've heard people using large malawian haps as the breeding host. But I've also heard that you dont' really need to use a host fish and the multies will breed in caves(or those breeding pots) just the same. African_Fever
From what I've been (and am trying personally), Victorians make the best hosts. Most Tang's will catch on after one two spawns, most Malawians will catch on after a couple more spawns, and most Vic's never seem to catch on at all. From what I've seen with the Vic's so far, they've got huge mouths for the size of the females (P. nyereri), so there shouldn't be as many problems with getting catfish fry stuck in the mouths of the hosts (as I would think could easily happen with mbuna). dunl
In the words of another hobbiest who used to breed these.... "Victorians are just plain stupid when it comes to cuckoos. I don't think they even notice the catfish coming in to breed half the time...."
Oxquo
Maybe I'll try vic's to start with then, thanks everyone. As for the cave spawning, I have heard of it done with Petricol's but not multi's, even if it did work it doesn't sound as cool as au natural.
