I have never had a "large" dovii, but everything that i have read says that they are realy timid untill they hit around the 8" mark. Then the poop hits the fan. I would imagine it is due to their enviroment where like you said their piscivorous parents or other large predator might pick them off. Either way i would just let them do their thing and i'll bet you'll be left with one super dominate dovii once he hits 8" in size. Rudy or Canuklehead could probably give you a first hand account on this for sure though. Good luck, Jay.

They are very similar so they will be fertilized as long as you do have a male.

Actualy alot of Vieja/Paratheraps, are nice and colorful like the Bifa. Also I beleive Canuklehead has some, but i don't imagine he would be parting with them anytime soon.

Those pics don't do him justice. His nuchal hump is crazy...it looks like someone smacked him with a baseball bat 3 or 4 times. Great fish and thanks for giving him such a good home. :thumbs:

Never run any of your filter media under tap water. It kills all of your beneficial bacteria. When doing a water change, rinse your filter media in your discarded water. That will keep all your bacteria alive and well.

No just my family origins. My father was the first one born in canada. I did however get a chance to go there when i was 15 for a couple of hockey tournaments. One in Grums and one in Stockholm. *Played in the globe arena* I would love to go back someday and mabey make a life there. I'am tired of the "Alberta Advantage"
