  1. A buddy of mine has the large model (the 1500 i think), and he likes it alot. I haven't heard much about them, but i looked at the way they were designed and was impressed. I have a small Cascade HOB and it has been working very well for me in my Nano tank. I have cleaned it out many times to dump out the sugar sand inside, and It's still completely silent. So that is my experience with Cascade. *I'am more than happy with it.* Hope that helps.
  2. Not realy, but i have been know to sip on a Guiness from time to time. Just incase your wondering about the Molson statement. I will not touch a Molson product again, because of them trying to make their employees take a roll back. The Employees striked and Molson just announced they are shutting down the plant! They no longer deserve my business.
  3. I agree with Nick 100% 48 hours is enough, considering it is a smaller tank. So the silicone won't be overly thick. And i would junk the UnderGravel Filter, and use a sponge filter run by a air stone or a small power head.
  4. Someone owes me a beer, :hey: and i don't drink anything from Molson.
  5. The August MOTM winner is Michael Roth. Congrats you have won a $20 gift cert to RiverFront Aquariums. Thankyou Michael Roth for your contibutions to the forum, and also for being a long time member, also a thankyou to RiverFront Aquariums. for their generous contributions to the forum, so we can give these prizes away. Thankyou from the staff at AA, Jay.
  6. Awesome pics! Thanks for sharing them with us.
  7. How big is this fish? It's looks like a male, but i haven't kept JD's in almost 15 years.
  8. That has to be one of the nicest fish i have ever seen. Man is he Thick!
  9. Your best bet is Natures corner. Henry told me he was thinking about bringing in more SA cichlids. Now i'am not sure if he is actualy going to do that, but even if he doesn't he does have the resorces to do a special order if we get enough interest. Bring him a Timmies and some treats & with any luck you can talk him into it. Other than that, i would talk to Christian to see if they have any in at Riverfront or if they have them on their ordering list.
  10. Frank: I looked at your gallery at cichlids.com. *Very nice* But did you know we have a gallery here that everyone can use to store their pics? Also you other cichlid that you needed a ID on is a Satanoperca leucosticta, which is often misidentified as a Geophagus jurupari.
  11. Yes, but it is too big for your tank and it will only get larger.
  12. (1) Make sure the cannister and tubes are empty. (2) Put the intake tube into the water and suck on the out take. That will create a siphon and start filling the canister. (3) Once it has filled put the out take into the tank and plug it in. (4) Shake the cannister every couple of seconds untill all the air has escaped it. Your done.
  13. Yes...definately keep water moving in the sump.
  14. You can use Eggcrate standing on edge all the way around the overflow, then use a screen in front of it. OR stuff a course sponge in there. Either way should work fine.
  15. I'am confused? Of course i don't doubt his existence, it's just i have seen with my own eyes one of these spruce beetles fly onto a guys face and take a huge chunk of flesh out of it.
  16. I prefer to believe things i have personaly seen, as apposed to things i have read in magazines. Eitherway...Amazing photos. They are some of the best i have seen.
  17. I know they used to have some Freddies in stock awhile ago. It's probably them. Those cubans would be a nice score also.
  18. Go visit Ft.Mac and tell a tradesman there that there are no beetles in alberta that will bite you unless threatened. Their answer will no doubt be less than pleasant. Take it from me... i have seen some bad bites from those "Harmless" spruce beetles.
  19. Also it is a african cichlid from Madagascar. *Moved*
  20. Congrats to the well deserved winner.
  21. Oh...so they were a managuense then? Nice fish.
