  1. that is good...can't wait for the pics esp. the pond pics
  2. me too...and pics of your pond would be nice too...if you have any
  3. very nice, I really like the pump
  4. I have a couple of synodontis multipunctatus that are very fat. I initially panicked and thought they had something serious causing them to bloat....I am now hoping they are just full of eggs. I took pics so someone could let me know for sure, but for some reason I can't transfer them to the computer. I have 2 yellow labs holding at the moment (the one that is furthest along I have placed in a tank on her own) and 1 other is in the process of breeding. The male hybrid lab is chasing those catfish like crazy...they are getting in the middle of things and putting a cramp in his amorous intentions I think. I will cross my fingers and hope for multi spawning. I am not looking forward to dealing with all those lab hybrid babies that I may get instead tho
  5. He is probably strong enough to keep out of the canister. Mine were in the tank with a filter and survived...of course it is possible that some went into the filter that I am not aware of. The bigger threat would be the cichlids. He will have a hard time evading them for any length of time. Check underneath any floating plants, mine used to hang out under them.
  6. Sure, pics would be great so I can refer to them when I decide what to do. How big is your pond? I should have taken a peek at it while I was at your house.
  7. As I was researching pond stuff, I came across this interesting skippy filter. I have seen variations of it at a couple different sites. It is similar to those biofall type filters by the looks of it. I am semi-contemplating having my son make me something along those lines (the Skippy Jr. plans probably) http://www.skippysstuff.com/biofiltr.htm
  8. I didn't really feed anything different. They pretty much eat anything. Whatever you are feeding should be good enough. Once you have babys, you may want to make sure to crush the flake up a bit so it isnt too large for them.

    Hi all

Hi Bryan welcome to AA. I am almost 40 too...it is hard to get used to that idea lol Anyways, I like the victorian haps too. I would love to have my hippo point salmons breed, they are very pretty fish.
  10. nice set up Karen. I love the stand, nice decor and nice choice of fish too.
  11. I think they are pregnant for about 60 days and they get big like they swallowed a marble before they deliver
  12. Well, I still think a well written response from you would be a good idea. If nothing else it will make them aware of the siruation. They will know that there are people out there that value their fish and refuse to put up with that kind of crap. Plus, if you put it in writing you wouldn't have to actually talk to anyone and have them minimize your concerns or start an argument. I wouldn't hold you breath on a reply or any kind of compensation. But at least they would have been made aware of the situation. There is a slight chance someone will take heed. If they do, it would make it a better place for their fish in future...and for future customers. best of luck with these other 2 discus, Shelley

    Hi all!

Hi J good job with that aquarium club
  14. that is too bad, good luck with the next batch
  15. she is probably pregnant. Mine seem to hang out closer to the top when it gets closer to the time. It helps if you have floating plants or something for the little guys to take refuge in after they are born.
  16. I think it would be too small for anything else.
  17. one thing to remember with filing cabinets is the instability if you have it heavier on top than at the base. It will tip over if you have too much wt higher up than on the bottom. I know for health and safety regulations we have to ensure that the most wt is closer to the bottom.

    syphons

I use my python as a very long syphon when draining water from the tank for water changes. It drains as long as the drain end is lower than the vac end. Just get the water draining like you would with a regular gravel vac and let gravity do the rest. I run the hose out the door and water my junipers with tank water during water changes. The tank in the basement gets drained into the shower. This way I don't have the faucet running to be wasting that water. I fill it back up with buckets when doing regular water changes because there isn't that much volume and I can be sure to have the correct temp etc. When I had to fill the tanks initially, I used the python as intended...hooked to the faucet. I have the plastic fittings and the shut off valve has cracked and the threads are getting stripped....and I have rarely use that aspect of the python. I would recommend the brass fittings to start with.
  19. Just fish them out. Tie a piece of fishing line to a slice of cucumber and sink it to the bottom. In the morning there will be lots collected on it and you can pull them out.
  20. your pics are all so beautiful...i love seeing them
  21. It must be nice to have it all up and running. Your tanks looked really nice before, so I can't wait to see pics of it now.
  22. I wish I was (or knew someone who was) talented enough to build nice stands like that. Nice job and good luck with your next projects.
