  1. Welcome! You chould talk to my wife and try to get her interested. She doesn't much care for most fish I have.
  2. WOOHOO, I finally got to see these 3 Bleheri start hunting again. Last night two of them started going after a little convict and one quickly got bored but the other...oh no he wasn't going to let the little fish get away from him and WHAMMO took him from the back and filled his belly. Boy have I missed those days. Made me happy that my wife enjoyed it as well and suggested that we hold onto him for a little longer. I hope you find some shark so you can enjoy it aswell.
  3. Looks similar to an algae that I had growing. Cant remember the name sorry but let it grow a little more and shoot off another picture. Amazing what can live. I had a tiny little anemone make it through.
  4. Washed burnco sant is just that. washed. It means more the fact that it is onky sand and not other "junk" that is in the pile when they wash it. For them to get sand is basically running it up a conveyor belt and letting it fall out the smaller holes while the rocks fall out the larger holes. If you were to go to the yard you will see stuff like 9mm Rock, and 14mm Rock which is what has been separated in the process. It wouldn't hurt to try and siphon out the top "dust" that has been settling. at least that way it wont stir up as big a mess as it was. GL
  5. Pull out the impellor and give it a clean. Sorry but it was such short notice for pick up I told you it needed a cleaning.
  6. Welcome to AA. Hope you enjoy your stay. I only have a leopard frog that I raised from a tadpole. The kids love it
  7. Beneficial as I understand aswell. So how many do you need for them to be UN-beneficial? I have TONS, some pushing 4"
  8. No Shai, That store has been gone for sometime now. Winers...errr...ummm.winNers took over.
  9. They are predators but I found them to be very casual. If you want predator Channa go for the Redline and a bigger tank!!
  10. I think I have to downsize. Cant get the energy bill to drop under $450/month and that hurts! Not sure if I am going to sell the tank or just shut it down for a while. The festae is definatly a female tho. Looking at her now.
  11. When mine were about a quarter sized round two of them made it out a hole the same size. These guys seem to have dead on accuracy. But that goes without saying being a predator and all. Basically they will get out a hole that they will fit through. I found one infront of my main door, half dried up. been there a good portion of the night and from its gills back was hard but it was still breathing. I placed it into the tank and after a good shedding it has become king of the castle. Hardy little guys. If you haven't already you should check out snakeheads.org great site!! BTW Have you been able to find any in Edmonton?
  12. OH yes that is him. THANK YOU!!!! He is around 6" and is an aggressive little bugger!! He will not be getting frozen, right away. I only have the male the female with him is not of his kind and she has held a few times. *Anyone have a female and would like the male to go with? **I noticed the female has the same type of "nose" in the pictures so I know the woman with him is not of his breed so she is def. frozen when I get home.**
  13. i purchased a little grabber arm thingy and when i see the worms I grab them and yank the little buggers out. DO NOT TOUCH THEM I made that mistake ONCE AND ONLY ONCE. FEELS LIKE HAVING A PIECE OF FIBERGLASS IN YOU, I think there is still one in my finger
  14. This guy has been in my tank for a while now and I cannot find anything about this kind of fish. doesn't help that I dont know where to start other than the fact he has no lips or a hairlip. Here are two pics of him. I dont care about the leleupi, convicts, or goldfish. Cons and goldfish are hitting the freezer tonight when I get home, and I am wondering if this guy should go with them. Thanks
  15. This is my current Bleheri setup. 3 Bleheri. 1Pair...1 loner 75G Tank AC500 LOTS of plants live/fake lots of rock cover and wood cover I have been using a glass cover and brought in those plastic pieces that slip onto the glass to seal in the rest of the tank so there are no jumpers. Lots of little fish as feeders but the Bleheri dont care for them. I feed Beefheart and frozen shrimp/krill. some NLS for the other little buggers. They haven't been as happy since they came out of the 45G and went into the 75. Thats about to change as most of the fish in the tank are heading for the Arctic when I get home. then a good rearranging and hopefully they can be happy again.
  16. CAS Website Should be able to answer most questions. Yes for the mini auctions just bag them up and bring them in. Maybe mark the bags and away you go
  17. It makes a huge difference in the tank, especially for colour. Now if I cn only find yellow. (not a sponge) Connie: I am only feeding Phytoplankton (dropper style) and I have recently started using reefroids Nothing else.
  18. So I couldn't resist temptation anylonger, I broke down and picked up an Orange Tree Sponge  There were three that I had been looking at and when I finally got the chance I dropped into Riverfront and low and behold they were still there. And to top it off the one I wanted was looking the best. Here is a picture of it after I placed it into the tank. Since this picture the feeding vents have really started to open up and it seems to be loving the Phyto that I am feeding.
  19. That sign of aggression and domination is normal for them. YES it could turn out bad, but isn't that the fun of having them because of the aggression? Keep a close eye on them and see what happens. Last night the Gachua came out and took two big hits onto the smaller of my bleheri, put a few marks on its back and sent it on its way. It only seems to pick on that one. I am assuming it is because the others have paired up, and if he comes near them the male goes crazy. swelling his head and swaying back and forth. I have noticed the Gachua to be more aggressive than the bleheri
  20. Correct neither will hurt the fish. I have used crazy glue many times. IF you use the crazy glue make sure to use the GEL type. Liquid will not work very well. I keep mine in the fridge to keep it as solid as possible and it works great.
  21. Looks Like Channa Gachua. I have one of them myself, along with 3 Channa Bleheri. If you are looking for another we should talk. It doesn't get along with the bleheri very well. I love Channa, and that is a nice fish
  22. Yeah sorry to hear about that, have you figured out a way to fix it? I'll talk to Wayne about the custom glass, hopefully he'll be able to help or point me in the right direction. Cheers I have come to the conclusion that I am not going to repair it. I will wait and buy new. Peace of mind is well worth it I think.
  23. Try Riverfront, I have been talking to Wayne about glass for the Bowfront I broke If he cant help you I am sure he knows someone who can.
