  1. anybody have cuttings they can spare. Thanks.
  2. Hi, I have some pothos in my tank to help with nitrate. I want to turn the tank to light brack 1.005 or less...would that be detrimental to the plant? Thanks
  3. I've had SAPs before and I generally gave them the usually puffer fare. Store bought human grade shrimp tails was a favourite. They only got the tail...I ate the rest...lol. SAPs like you may already know will require puffer dentistry. Even with daily feedings of snails, I trimmed the beak about every 6-8 months. Without snails, even sooner. They are fun and interesting. Post some pics!
  4. I have what I think are a. Eunotus and I am surprised how good they are as parents! I. Have a trio in a 12 gallon and both females are taking great care of free swimmers. I am not intentionally breeding so I am not feeding the fry but the mom is doing a grat job protecting and feeding. Of course not many will survive as the white cloud minnows are opportunistic feeders. Very fun to watch!
  5. I think the ones I bought from fairdeals are wild from peru. still trying to id it.
  6. Thanks Jay. I will pm you when I have some free time.
  7. I bought some apistos from fairdeal. One got bullied before I can get to him and he did not make it. I have one that paired up and now looking after some free swimmers. Looked at my nanocube and found that the remainder trio bred as well. Two females watching over some free swimmers with the male running back and forth between them. I have not bred anything since EBJDs and it is so interesting to watch. I am not really keeping the fry so mom and dad will have to feed and protect. If any survive, it will the be the strongest.
  8. Have not bred anything since the bend but noticed the apistogramma I bought from fair deal is guarding a bunch of free swimmers!
  9. I found that it was more peaceful with females. They still do chase each other if they do not have ample space. Longer would be better.
  10. Yes they are scaleless but i have not had problems due to decor. They are smart, inquisitive, and just plain comical. How big is your tank? Big enough tank can house more than one but it is important to get 1m to 2f ratio to decrease aggression. Dont misjudge these li'l puffs. They are fin nippers and be careful what you house them with. Break the line of sight to reduce aggression as well.
  11. I love bulldogs! I have one...adopted from crane bulldog in innisfail.
  12. can we try it out. One time and see how the forum community responds to it? I know its not me that will be getting the message if it goes out of control...so I understand the reasoning. Thought it may be fun.
  13. before doing a shotgun approach with antibiotics. Do the daily waterchange until ammonia is back to zero.
  14. I punched holes throughout the output as it was a flat nozzle. Seems to help a bit. I am still thinking about buying a piece of pvc pipe and make a spray bar with more holes to even reduce the pressure. I will post pics when I am done. Thanks again.
  15. Right now no fish yet. Few nothing but driftwood. I will try punchin more holes in the outtake And see if it helps. Thanks!
  16. I have a 12gallon nano cube and the output nozzle is too strong. What can I do to reduce it without switching pump? Thanks in advance.
  17. any group pic of the assorted apistos from peru?
  18. do you remember putting anything on your hand or wrist...e.g. lotion, sanitizer? Sounds like you may have contaminated the tank. I had a similar incident when I had saltwater. I washed my hands but not up to my elbow and i use hand sanitizer at the hospital and lotion to my lower arm.
  19. wrinkles definately means males. Not all my males showed the dark line...only when the female was around. Sorry...i do not see your signature...what else are in the puffer tank?
  20. dwarf puffers are notorious fin nippers and make once in a while take on a shrimp. Not the best way to get rid of snails. Figuring out why you have an infestation to begin with will help solve the problem. If you decide to get more puffers, see if you can get females instead of males. I found males to scrap with each other more than females. What else do you have in the tank for livestock?
