  1. No these were close to adults. Not teacups. Definitely not full grown though they were probably only about 16". But with so many rays I was sure that they were going to be needing a larger tank...just was not to sure how large they got. I am still learning about rays and was just giving some advice that I had been given. Thank you for correcting my statement CORVETTE. But also I have seen many 16-20 inch rays kept in tanks as small as 75 gallons. Something I would never do for sure!!
  2. That looks very unique!! Definitely allot of hiding places for the fish. I have never seen white brick like that before where did you find it?
  3. I have a Distichodus Sexfasciatus that I was thinking about trying to put with them but I am not to sure....It is not the ones with the really long noses but the ones with the shorter noses... he is about 4.5inch in length... Would it be a good idea to put him with them??
  4. I have been told that a 130 gallon 6' long would be plenty for 2 adult rays... Also I have seen 5 rays kept all there life in a 200 gallon so I don't see it being a big problem putting 2 rays in your 150 gallon...
  5. Hey everyone I am having a really hard time trying to decide what I want to put with my rays... I can't go with anything very expensive like a asian arowana but of course I would love to! I have been thinking of the fallowing but not to sure in any: A group of fronts Silverdollers some type of sharks/catfish any suggestions on the fish I have in mind or if anyone has any other ideas please let me know... Thanks
  6. Nice pics I like the black tip sharks I have always wanted to get some....I wonder if they could go with my rays?
  7. Congrats!!! Its always really exciting for someone to breed there first fish...Good luck!
  8. Well I tried the soaking in bloodworm thing and it worked better then just putting the shrimp in tank without it. They seemed to both eat more of the shrimp this time! I will be trying some more other foods soon.
  9. Hello I was wondering if anybody would have any ideas for me on how to get my new rays into eating some other foods other then just bloodworm's? Went I got them I was told that they eat bloodworm's just fine and they do. But I am wanting to add some other foods to there diet and I have been trying raw shrimp for starts. The male will take one small piece and then after that have no more interest and then the female will just get freaked out from the different food added and bury herself under the sand! How can I add different food into there diet! I just don't want them to have a diet of only bloodworm's. Thanks for any help......
  10. I actually like the Black background but I am a very big fan of black backgrounds all together! I feel that it brings out the fish colors allot nicer. Anyways I love the look of your tank. The fish look great! Can't wait to hear when they start breeding for you......Good luck.
  11. Great pics! You should show off those Discus that I seen when I came over!
  12. Nice plecos!! Just be very careful with those arows I once had some with there yolk sacks and they are very fragile! Dose not take much for them to pop! How old are your rays? I just got some young ones a few days ago!
  13. I have Target play sand from Home Depot. I hope that is ok???
  14. If you have lots of rock work in your tank you may be in for a surprise!! When I had my 1m and 2f about 2 years ago in my 130gal also with man other cichlids and lots of rock work they started to multiply very fast! First I had the Trio and after about 2 months all the fry that survived turned out to be about 20 1.5-2inch little buggers all over the tank! From only the one female breeding the other one would never breed so I only had the one breeding. I eventually took all the 20 labs out of the tank and sold them all and the same thing happened! So I moved them into another tank a 180gallon with more larger predator fish hoping that the fry would not multiply so fast but no same thing even more! After about 2 years now I have sold well over 250 yellow labs! So with your 8 females you may be in for a surprise! LOL Good luck!
  15. I finally got some rays and am very excited to show them off! I have been having a hard time getting the pics up so hopefully they work this time! http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm179/b...al/HPIM0854.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm179/b...al/HPIM0859.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm179/b...al/HPIM0862.jpg

  17. I tried posting some of the pics in my album and same thing it still will not work for me... There must be something wrong?????
  18. I don't really know how to use that program.... I normally can just post pics on here but for some reason it wont let me this time... I am going to keep trying for a bit I guess.
  19. No to sure if this is the right place to mention this but I am trying to post some pics of my new rays but every time I try t upload a pic it never works the upload section just goes blank and then says I have no files attached. Can someone please help me out with this. Thanks
  20. FYI - AC sponges should last several yrs, or longer, no need to change every 6 months. I still have some running that must be close to 10 yrs old now. Same here I never really change my sponges. My grandfather has had some of his for over 10 years and when he wants to sterilize all his sponges every summer of so he will put them all outside in the hot sun for a day or 2 and then they most of the time look brand new again! The only time I have ever changed my sponges is when I leave them out somewhere and my cats find them and leave a HUGE MESS all over my fish room!!! LOL They love to rip them apart into really small pea size sponges!!
  21. Im sure I have seen that at golds all the time. Pretty much any aquarium store will have the AC 110 replacements.
  22. I had something like that many times in the past and came to a conclusion that they were coming from the frozen brine shrimp. Because every time I just finished feeding i would usually see one and when I never use the stuff for a long time they would never be around! I'm not to sure if that is what it could be but it very well seems that way.... Do you use frozen brine shrimp? It may be from bloodworms as well because I can not really remember if it was around for them or the shrimp.
  23. I Know that I have seen ones that look like that description before labeled as a vampire Pleco but that may not be exactly what it is because there are so many that look very similar.
  24. I seen this Puffer (Puff Daddy) in person and it really is a awesome fish!! It really makes me want to get one but they seem like they are almost like having another child! LOL
