  1. Cuttlefish are cool.....is he eating yet?
  2. AHAHAHAHAHA....I think I met her also
  3. Looks awesome  here for a little better veiwing
  4. I would watch what you wish for. I have xenia that has completely taken over a tank and nothing into cept a few hundred brown zoos and about 75 or so soon to be xenia frags
  5. They make no noise, I hardly ever see them. (Have not seen them in a week but I knwo they are there because I saw 2 sheddings) Brown eyes, not hairy. I have not been able to observe other behaviors now as I can't find the little buggers lol. The noises mine make are squish and splat.......after they are "rocked" of coarse
  6. My peppermints are are always carrying eggs they just become food for my coral
  7. Opps my bad I have never had experience with a 404 only the 304.... Thanks for jumping in
  8. I had the same problem with my 304 one time shut it down take off the top turn it around 180 degrees reinstall lid it should work fine the water is just tring to go through backwards. The big hole in the top has to line up with the screened hole on the lid of the 1st media compartment. Does all this make sense?? :boxed:
  9. I have had a tank full of it and as much as I tried it wouldn't go asexual the more nitrates the better it did. It is a very good nutrient export as well as halmedia which I cannot grow as well. I was giving it away by the bagfuls I wanted to get rid of it the best way was a tang gone in a week never to be seen a again
  10. I make frag plugs and slabs of rocks nothing very big though I use portland cement, crushed oyster shells, sand, and water mixed it very thick. Let it cure for about a week then dump it into a pail of vinegar and after a week change the vinegar. The they need lots and lots of water changes, som what I do is I put them in the tanks of all my toilets quickest and easiest way to do water changes
  11. I have never worried about bristle worms the are good for the tank and for attacking anything I think it is doubtful, but they will feed on dead stuff . When I was new into the SW I thought they were creepy and used to take them out but now they stay. The biggest one I have ever seen was a couple years ago about 4-5 inches stretched out and he is still in the tank somewhere  At one frag meet I was doing a frag demo of some zoos and I pulled off around 30- 2 inchers from one rock and put them in the sump of the host of the party most people there have never seem that many before.
  12. I don't think the german red would be the daddy he is much smaller and spends most time moving from hiding spot to hiding spot the sunshine likes to pick on him
  13. Ok I new to the whole cichlid seen I have only had them for about month or so and well I must be doing something right  cause last week my female egyptian mouth brooder (Pseudocrenilabrus Philander ) is holding and boy does she have a mouthful her head is square, and last night while feeding I noticed my agressive feeding sunshine peacock female was staying back from the frenzy and low and behold she has got a mouthful also. These fish are fairly young and I'm pretty sure these are the 1st brood. At what time should I moved them to there own tanks? or can I leave them in the community tank? there is presently 1M 1F egyptian mouth brooders, 1M 2F sunshine peacocks, 1M german red, 1M borleyi and a pleco. I don't really want to move them to early and risk spitting them Could really use some help........oh yes and I'm pretty happy
  14. It is actually better to do the opposite with really high salinity(1.035-1.040) then you don't kill off your bacteria and coraline. As for the crab idea I really cannot see it it would have to be a good sized crab to hold down a fish especially a wrasse and to kill what 4 or 5 in one night, you would see a crab that big, I think a mantis would be more plausible and mantis' will usually leave slash or spear marks on them. Could also be a large pistol shrimp they can let off a big crack shockwave that stuns a fish then they will kill more likely to eat though, and you would probably hear a mantis or pistol before this. I still think its related to the sea apples getting stressed and releasing something into the water. It is a small tank things happen fast in a small tank good and bad
  15. 1st of all sorry for the loss weird things suck How long has the tank been running? sometimes when rearranging the sand gets stirred up releasing some nasties, does the sand have any hard chunks on the surface? the sand can trap a buildup of CO2 a release all at once depriving the fish of oxygen the bigger fish will die fish probably the fairy wrasse and the smaller last firefish, and having 6 fish and inverts in a 27 good chance there will be lots of CO2 HTH ....just another thought any anemonies, sea hare, cucumbers, sea apples when these die they leach of nasties that will kill a tank in a hurry usually they will go through a powerhead like meat processer or was the power out overnight? happended to me flickered overnight and the powerheads or skimmer didn't start up never looked at the tank before work and came home to a terrible stench all fish and SPS dead was not a good day
  16. It could be Grape Caulerpa if they grow on a vine tangs love it mine just goobles it up. Does it look like this http://centralpets.com/php/PrintFriendly.p...imalNumber=1797 or it could be Valonia here is a good little read and ditto for the emerald crabs I have manually removed them some did get popped but they did not seem to spread and I am offically rid of them http://netclub.athiel.com/algae/algae.html
  17. Thanks guys. Murm I started the tank with tap water and boom....algae. Since then I switched to RO and I've pretty much got a handle on the bad algaes. Was thinkin bout some kind of blenny or goby...but really like the royal grammas. Dont know if I should push 4 fish in a 20g. I dont know we'll see....no hurry. 4 small fish will be ok with regular water changes if you are going to do a royal gramma make sure it goes in last they can get a git grouchy and will take it out on the firefish. bicolors and yellow watchman gobies have awesome personality and will follow you back and forth all happilly even with the grouchy face
  18. Nice start you got there just need a nice little Bi-color blenny to help control the algae a bit oh and :welcome:
  19. For me big enough to hide all my equipment little macro algae most important enough room to hold all the water incase of a power outage and everything in the plumbing drains back On one of my tanks I run a 90G with a 25G sump for example
  20. Do they have red eyes? are they hairy? fanning sounds like a Porcelain Crab but they usually fan all the time or could be using water current to bring food in. Taking them out and putting them in there own display is the best if you want to keep them  Myself if they were in my display I would see what kind of noise they make
  21. Yes another victim........MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
