  1. I was thinking gussets in the corners to keep things open in the back for plumbing.
  2. Do you own a backup generator? With that setup, i would be nervous about power failure.
  3. I have been thinking of something along these lines, but not sure. Edit: Make that 102.5" overall. My Bad.
  4. You could try this: http://www.aquarticles.com/articles/manage...nge_Filter.html
  5. e-mail the company to be sure.
  6. My Green Spotted Puffer has been in full marine for over a year now and is quite a character. Just my 2 cents worth.
  7. Replace the actinic light with a duplicate of your other light as actinic is more into the blue spectrum than normal lights. This should help, but you should really try to get another light fixture to get more light into the tank. With a 90 gallon tank you should have at least 100 watts of light to give at least 1 wpg. With plants, you should try to get about 2 wpg for efficient growth. Silicates, IMHO, are more of a problem in marine tanks that freshwater.
  8. Agree with that, the ends of the tank should be supported.
  9. Check out some of the hygrophilla species if you are wanting stem plants. I had hygrophilla polysperma in my 10g and it grew even under incadescent light.
  10. Sure, http://www.tropicaltankforum.co.uk/viewtop...e41613b12037013 It is basically the same thing but you are using rotting prawns to create the ammonia. It seems that pure ammonia is very hard to get over there.
  11. I set up my old 10 gallon tank Wednesday night, using substrate, rocks, and plastic plants that had all been in tanks before and were rinsed before adding. I put in an AquaClear mini with 2 sponges that had also been used before, but forgot to rinse. All of these items had sat dry for at least a year. I wanted to try to cycle the tank the European way, with prawns, so I added 4 frozen black prawns. Last night when I got home from from work, I noticed that the tank had a great bacterial bloom. When I tested, I was quite surprised. Temp 80F, ammonia 4, nitrites 1.6, nitrate 100. The nitrate I expected from the sponges and used decor but I did not expect the nitrites. Tonight when I tested, temp 80, ammonia 6.1, nitrites 0.1, nitrates <5. Where the hell did my nitrites and nitrates go? I did not do a waterchange or anything to the tank.
  12. When my 55 was running, I ran an Aquaclear 70 and a Fluval 304.
  13. Moving up from a 33 to a 55 and I have hair algae in the 33. Should I move the existing water and possibly transport spores into the new tank or just go with new water and scrub the crap out of my decor? Tank is FOWLR and houses a Green spotted puffer, a 3 stripe damsel and a Bicolor blenny. No clean up crew.
  14. Just had to do this same thing to my 55. Found that getting the tape on straight to be the hardest part. A little trick I found that worked well was to use the tip of a plastic spoon to smooth the silicone, no sticky fingers and easy to clean.
  15. I only wish I could afford another tank big enough to house one, and the $160 to buy it.
  16. Went to Petland and was amazed to see that they had a Mottoro and a Teacup ray for sale. I had never seen one in real life so I had to grab a pic. It is about 5 inches in diameter and the coolest thing.
  17. Good old Lethbridge tapwater in my 33.
  18. Do you have to wet it to keep the acrylic from melting?
  19. I just resealed my 55 with Mastercraft window and door silicone. It states on the tube that it is "great for aquariums" and contains no additives. Other than this, I have heard great reports on GE silicone 1, if you can find it.
  20. How does he like the lack of sand? I thought they required it. Please edumucate me.
  21. Well, I guess I will pass on him then. Thanks
  22. Cool, thanks. I picked up the cuticle cutters the other day, they were a lot easier to find. I am sure that it will be a lot more stressful on me than him.
  23. Thanks for that, I have 1/8 - 1/4" gravel in my tank and a 10" Pleco, so it would probably be a bad mix then, I guess. The eel is about 9" long and quite a looker. $40 sound right for one.
  24. Well, the time has come to try trimming my GSP's teeth for the first time. Does anyone know where to get clove oil or clove based toothache drops? I have checked all over Lethbridge and cannot find it, even at the pharmacies. The closest thing that I can find is clove bud oil and it is marked for external use only. Any ideas?
