You know, the eye on the fish in the picture is identical to the power symbol on a computer.

Neil, if you manage to hybridize those I think the situation would be very marketable; "Defying nature once again, thanks to the power of new life spectrum!" Forget flower horns, this is the hybrid of the future!

Shouldn't be a bad move, a bit stressful but you'll probably come out of it in worse shape then the livestock. I don't know that I'd use airpumps and buckets though. Honestly, I'd just bag them and throw them in a styrobox. It takes up less room and you don't need to worry about water sloshing around in the vehicle.

Always have room for Eretmodus!

It's a contest run at www.cichlid-forum.com and there's no prizes awarded other then recognition. Why not post some of your aquatic pictures on here so we can see them?

You Know Your Hobby Is Getting Out Of Hand When.........

...when you mention your fish and spouse in the same sentence, the fish always come first. -
Well, the only thing to do now is focus on those I have and get them setup well. I have a 4'x2'x2' tank I can turn into a pretty decent bicher playground.

ooo ok... my new tank system.. a sneak peek...
Froggie replied to neoprodigy's topic in Freshwater Photography
How many tanks are you runing at the moment, all told? -
Alright, Now I feel like a complete failure. I just went downstairs to find the other P. endlicheri dead on the substrate. It must have just died as the eyes had yet to cloud over. I saw it out swimming this morning and it ate a little food last night. Before anyone asks, I did test and Nitrates were less then 10ppm and Ammonia/nitrites were not detectable. My other bichers are in that same tank and are fine.

Moralities of keeping large fish
Froggie replied to African_Fever's topic in General Aquaria Discussion
The availability of some extremely large species does bother me. I feel that many of them should be obtainable by special order only. I’m not talking about large cichlids or such either. Take for example the fact that one can get A. spatula, the alligator gar, from Big Als in Edmonton at the moment? That’s a fish with an extremely rapid growth rate and which has the potential to reach 10ft! I sincerely doubt that there are enough people in Alberta whom have large enough tanks to house every one of those fish as adults. -
It's quite possible. I would recommend splitting the groups up.

I agree completely, something always seems to happen with the fish you like. It's generally my policy to get a few more then I want. However when the fish reach a certain price per fish, and need to travel so far, then it becomes a bit trickier.

That can be expanded, get a few more N. leleupi for a pair and maybe some Julidochromis!

This morning I headed down to the fish room to feed my tanks. I noticed upon walking in that one of my two new P. endlicheri endlicheri "chad basin" was positioned oddly. It was vertical against the back glass with its head against the substrate! I rushed to the tank to find the fish dead and its mouth packed full of crushed coral. It seemingly had tried to eat a mouthful and choked to death. I have no idea exactly why and am somewhat distraught. The worst part is that I can't replace it any time soon. These had been brought for me by someone who was coming back from Houston, TX. Sucks.

CR6 is a hormone that is sometimes used on fish so they show their colors much earlier and more vividly. It is definitely not recommended since it can have lasting negative effects on the animal. Don't dope your fish! They won’t be able to compete in the 2008 Fishy Olympics!

Only option is to move it into the bedroom!

Planetcatfish has C#'s up to 141 listed but I'm not sure how many of those were unique species. I imagine there are over a hundred. You'll have to wait for an expert to get an exact answer.

All the fish were moved from their respective tanks to a small photo-tank to have their picture taken.

I think that when you're going to casually insult someone in a thread you should have the decency to mention their name. There are those of us who've had tanks this size for years, have the heaters, the experience and the working knowledge of theoretical heat transfer to make an informed suggestion, which I might add was intended to help you save money. You’re being a cocky twit who has no idea what he’s talking about, and to coin a phrase, “things like that bug me”.

Forget about Blue crays, I want this guy!

Actually, people are a bit too squishy for that to work I'm afraid.
