  1. :welcome: You'll find a lot of very helpful and knowledgable people here as well as a willingess to help you find what ever kind of fish you want to keep. Group orders are put together from time to time so keep an eye on that section on the bottom of the page if there is something special you are looking to add to your collection.
  2. I'd stay away from providing a forum for comments made without evidence...as mentioned that could bring legal problems or at leaast sponsorship issues. Do what I do, pm the more knowledgable members and seek their private opinions or start a threat about the specific livestock or equipment thread you are interested in ...ask for pm's (perhaps that type of singular posting without ability for public comment could exist)
  3. If you can find the transport I'll fix you up with one or two of mine at $0 . Sorry yours committed suicide.
  4. I returned home earlier this week to find the vast majority of my breeding tank of F-1 Electric yellows on the bottom, belly up. Thinking the flow rate on a cannister filter I had added to the large HOB on the same tank might be an issue I reached into the tank to feel the flow of the output spray bar just below the surface...and got an interesting "tingling" :boxed: (to put it mildly) from what later turned out to be a faulty STEALTH brand 200W submersible heater. I will be taking the heater apart later to see where the fault developed if I can, thought I'd post the issue here...had I not been wearing vibram soles on my boots I might have joined my fish. I'm be upgrading all my circuits near tanks to ground fault...most were but that one darn tank was not on such a system - an expensive lesson but not nearly as expensive as it could have been. (Of course then the wife could have gotten rid of all the fish tanks...lol)
  5. I'd suggest tight fitting glass tops with minimum openings for filters etc...that will cut down evaporation a bit. I find canister filters seem to cause less hunidity than the open, hang-on-back types but not sure if that would make that much of a difference. The use of the exhaust fan, properly insulated and vented, might cost you a bit in heating during the winter but can fix a problem with out the maintenance of the dehumidifier choice. Good luck!
  6. Gold's is my favourite...they know what they are doing and always appear they would rather have a happy customer than a quick sale.
  7. I run several types of Eheim filters myself. If you are like me and need the manual for yours, you can find the on-line manual for the 2250, with parts list, at; http://www.eheim.de/eheim/inhalte/index.js...mp;list=afilter Good luck! Hal
  8. Has anyone had any experience with Cascade Canister Filters - especially the model 1500's? I am not familiar with them but have a chance to buy some and wonder if they are any good or problematic.
  9. I raise three types of these in separate tanks...you can leave them in, I have multiple generations in one tank...perhaps 6 generations...from over 1 1/2" to the tiny fry...all larger help with the smaller...or at least never seem to bother them. What variant do you have? Perhaps we can trade to mix the blood lines.
  10. I can have a monster tank ... or my wife.... .... still looking for the right tank..... :smokey:
  11. :welcome: If you have any questions or need anything, just ask, there are a ton of helpful people here!
  12. :welcome: I've found this to be the most helpful and friendly forum I've joined! Enjoy!
  13. Well, saw the male in his female forced exile inside the 4" black PVC elbows stacked in the corner of the breeding tank...then in the evening saw the female snuggling up beside him inside the same pipe...not under the rock cavern where the first spawn took place. Still lots of 1-1 1/2" fry from the first shooting around but this morning...tons of eggs inside the pipe, fanned and guarded by mom.
  14. I see this on line: http://www.usedcalgary.com/classified-ad/5232024 $425 for a good looking 54 gal with everything. text states it is still for sale. Lots of very large set ups available now for under $500, the corner tank part can be the tough part. I have a 65 gal hex in my living room, the back three sides have 3d rock background mounted so it looks great in the corner. I have seen similar on line in the past 2 months and on occassion the hex's seem easier to get than the true pie shaped corner tanks. Good luck!

    Ha-lo!

:welcome: I use the 3d backgrounds alot myself, never seen the one you have but it looks great!
  16. :welcome: Just be thankful tanks are not injectable...or this addiction would really hurt! lol
  17. :welcome: You came to the right place for knowledge and good natured assistance...I have found nothing but from the people here. :welcome:
  18. If you are looking for items then you should post with a WTB (want to buy) or LF (Looking For) in the members only Buy/Sell area...the rules of that area require/request you also add some type of $ range you might be willing to pay for an item if you can hazard a guess...just to cut down on frustrating people who know an item is worth $20 each and you want free or can/will only pay $5 each. My guess is they moved your post to the right area...or just deleted it.
  19. :welcome: You'll find a ton of very helpful people here. It should take several weeks to properly cycle your tank using the normal methods.
  20. Mind if we ask the cost of the setup? Also, do you have any newer pics?
