  1. Target is the brand name and they sell it at home depot. I have used the bucket idea and depending on time of year I just run a hose in it for a while and keep rinsing it into the garden.

    Driftwood

Do you know anyone that works in an industrial kitchen? I am a chef and have access to giant steam kettles and I have used those before to boil huge pieces. Just a thought.
  3. I need some plant id help. I want to get out of the planted tank business but I have no idea the names of my plants! Another issue is I cannot seem to upload pictures. If anyone would be willing to help please pm me an email addy and I will send you a couple pics. Much appreciated. Mark
  4. I am trying to upload some pictures and I keep getting this error, upload skipped error 406? Can someone let me know what this is and how I might fix it? Thanks Mark
  5. Mine are all happy and fat eating nls pellets with the occasional shrimp pellet. But when I had some skinnies nothing worked better than good old snails. They go crazy for them, I have hundreds of MTS and would throw dozens in at a time and they loved them and helped them bulk up and grow really fast. Mark
  6. Not sure if this is the right forum but they are breeding and I have a few questions. Anyone on here have experience with apple snails and their eggs? I have three cluthes of eggs and I am curious what people on here have done to hatch them? I took mine off the glass with razor blade and put them into a "tupperware like" container with some damp paper towel and put them in a relativley warm spot to keep them warm and humid. Am I doing things right? Any ideas on length of term? I have read 2-4 weeks but I am looking for some personal accounts? Also what to feed babies if they do hatch. Thanks for your help Mark Oh yeah are they seasonal breeders or could I expect this all the time?

    Air Pump Types

As I have gotten more into Plecos I am requiring a good air pump that can supply various airstones a steady supply. Currently I run a bunch of small single ones, I am curious about a larger type that I can split to several(6) tanks at once? I am sure it exists I am just not sure types brands where to buy costs and such. Anyone have pics of there setups with something like this? Thanks, Mark
  8. I have a breeding trio of Albino bristlenose plecos but the male keeps pushing all the eggs out of the cave and not tending them? He does fertilize them as I have scooped some out in the passed and hatched them but I am curious as to why he does this and if there is anything that can be done to persuade him to rear the fry on his own? Thanks, Mark
  9. Yeah I ended up saving only three of the whole batch but I had two adults of my own. so when I moved them all together viola babies! Lucky I tell ya, I just hope its an ongoing thing now! Mark
  10. I decided to remove a bunch, those I could catch and put them in a fry tank. I went down last night and found about 10 more with the flashlight! Not sure if I can catch them today but I think that brings my total to 22!!!! Here's hoping I can keep them all healthy and growing! Mark
  11. I have a group of 201's, all wild caughts and in a tank with a group of Red Top Lwandas. Well today I found around 15 babies in the tank! Incredible find. The parents are really elusive and I rarely see them. All I ever see are their tales while they are in their caves. All the babies are at the top of the tank and on the top of the heater. The only reason I saw them was because I was doing some excercises on the floor beneath the tanks and happened to look up at the water line! I am supe stoked about this find and cant wait to see them grow up. I wonder how old they are as they are around 1.5CM's! Any ideas? Also are they ok in that tank? Are they safe with the parents and the Lwandas? Thanks Mark To make it better I also stripped 40 fry from my Auloncara Kandeensis!
  12. Congrats! She was mighty big when I saw her! Suprised it was only two, good luck. Mark
  13. I found this add a little strange: http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-pets-accessorie...QAdIdZ158589054
  14. I had to restrain my self or set up new tanks, oh wait I had to do that anyway! I got 10 Auloncara Maylandi "Sulphurheads", and 9 Xystichromis sp. 'Kyoga flameback' two of the males are outstanding already and maybe 2"! I also got 5 long finned albino Bristle nose delivered from Fairdeal! Thanks Harold. Whoever got some of the other flamebacks if your interested in trading down the road let me know, I think I may be male heavy. Mark
  15. Those are great, mind if I ask where you got them from? Mark
  16. Well I got 22 Fry out of her and she is a pretty small fish and they were all swimmers! So if it was eating eggs I can't imagine how many she would have had! Mark
  17. I have two holding Ngara Flametails that I decided to strip last night. Upon stripping the second one something odd popped out of her mouth. I finished with her and let her go then checked the bottom of the container, a Malaysian Trumpet Snail!!!! She must have picked it up after the male fertilized the eggs! Anyone ever seen this before?? The snail is still alive and I stripped her after 20 days or so! Crazy if you ask me! Mark
  18. Can someone tell me where the new one is located??? Thanks Mark
  19. Any idea where in Calgary I could get a couple? Mark
  20. The tank is around 2.5-3gallons. Ok sounds like I need shrimp more than a snail as all my algae issues are on the plants! Would a betta eat the shrimp or try to? There is allot of cover for the shrimp to hide. Mark
  21. I did a search on these snails they seem pretty cool! Anyone out there have them?? Seen them in any stores in Calgary? Thanks Mark
  22. I have a nano tank on my desk at work with a betta in it. It's planted and the plants are growing like crazy, so much so I have clipped a bunch and am now populating a 65 gallon at home! But with the plant growth has come algae! What type of fish would live in a small unheated tank like this and rid me of this algae? Otto?? Are shrimp a possibility? Any help is most appreciated. Mark
  23. Wow thats impressive, do you know the dimensions? Was it the Beacon hill Costco? Wood or Metal?
  24. I am looking for plans, or a website that may be able to help me build a shelving unit for 3 33gallon tanks. I am sure lots of people out there have built them so I am looking for some dos and dont's you may have run into before I get going on it. I am not looking for a work or art but something to look reasonably nice as it will be going in a semi high traffic area that allot of people will see. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mark
