  1. what kind of lighting do you have it under? almost all will not servive under compacts no matter what the store tells you
  2. to be honest tried compacts and almost every type of soft coral I kept died or didnt grow. But give it a try
  3. hey I got one of those red and white gobies. But he doesnt do anything except build caves and cover my corals in sand.
  4. some nice fish in picked up one of the powder blues today.
  5. some considerations to look at is what are some of the fish you want? some are sand sifters some like to build caves which can be done with out a sand bed by adding a bunch of liverock rubble. Also how much live rock are you going to put in as part of bio filter is your substrait. which you'll have to add more l/r to meet that need. A sandbed is also a breeding ground for other positive creatures that eat the left over junk in your tank. these Are the main reasons I found when I was looking into the same things as you. But with out substrait is less work ,less mess, easy to clean . Just some thoughts for you
  6. I would say the maroon if it went to close to its hosting spot. mine did it to morish idol.
  7. their just little brittle star fish nothing to worry about.
  8. Josh would be BlkWolfe. Edit by J-roc: BlkWolfe is a Admin here on A-A.
  9. the Person to talk to then would be Josh. As he has a couple smaller nano's and prob give you an Idea of type and brand of lighting you would need for corals
  10. I would go with that coralife fixture from bob_I on canreef. It should give you enough lighting you'll need. Plus you can also use it if you ever decide to upgrade
  11. does your pepper mint shrimp eat apitasia?
  12. It is expensive and even more addictive. Im going over seas on the 18 of feb. I will be recieving $20,000 extra in danger pay and I want to have at least $5000 of it to spend on a new s/w tank.
  13. I find kenya's like a low salinity level around 1.021 to 1.020. mine did great until my buddy looked after my tank and never did any top offs and thus salinity went up killing my kenya trees
  14. you could always turn to the darkside like the rest of us and go s/w
  15. you would be better off selling it as a reef ready if you still have all the equipment around. Do you still have the sw lighting? Is it drilled? Does it have overflows? All these options would make it worth more. If not I would say in my opinion around $300 to $400.
  16. but use with care as it will also kill any other anemone good or bad in the tank. Learned the hard way as I lost my pacific rose tip I had for over a year when I used it. Dont listen to the instructions when it tells you to turn off the power heads to avoid spreading it to your good anemone's. As I follow them and it still killed it.
  17. why josh?!! you always sell when I cant buy

you still have her reza how the big girl doing? still eating like a pig?
  19. albert I never implied to do a cycle with fish. I stated starter fish not fish to cycle with.
  20. albert is right damsels do get mean. Ive been lucky and they have never gone after my other fish. But they do attack me. dunl will find that out after the four stripes he got off me have been in his tank awhile. I do stickly salt and my advice to you is that when starting out with a pair of damsels and a pair of clowns. clarkii and tomatoes are nice but for the novice your better to go with false percs.
  21. not to worry i've had a few albino's and still have one now, It does the same thing and so did the others. I've raise 3 out of the four breeds of this species and find the albino to be the most docile, red tails to be the most aggresive, rainbows to be about in the middle. I would recommend the you get one more as 1 or 3 to be your best bet to prevent fighting. I also found leaving you light on all the time helps to keep them from beating each other but might not be the best thing for your tank depending on what fish you have in there. hope this helps Justin
