  1. We named our Jardini Arowana "Tsunami" (a year ago folks, before the disaster) because when he was 2.5" long and in a 10 gallon, all we could hear at night was him trying to jump out of the tank, "... splash, boink, splash..." He was sure making waves! ~Reza~

    Fluval 204

I remember someone posted a surefire way to get a 404 up and running without the sucking. It's somewhere in the equipment section. ~Reza~
  4. I agree, I've never understood how a farmed fish could be considered endangered. So let me get this right, no one in the states can enjoy watching arowanas in their aquariums???? ~Reza~
  5. I need a pair of pants like that to smuggle drinks into a bar to avoid paying the high prices. LOL

    Problems

Unplug the canister from the wall (power supply). Then you can lift up the blue lever between the two hoses on top of the canister without worrying about water spraying from the base unit. When the blue lever is all the way up it seperates from the base unit AND closes the hoses so you don't drain the tank onto your floor. Once done you can take the canister to the bathroom and open it up via the four corner clips. Clip back together once clean, put the hose end back into the top of the canister and pull the lever down. The canister will now fill from the tank water. Give it a minute to fill before you plug the power supply back in. ~Reza~

Good work. I hope you enjoy your jardini as much as I like mine. ~Reza~
  9. Do you think it is worth getting a 404 for $150??? :well:
  10. Teacups (Potamotrygon reticulata) max out at 18"..15 realistically. $60 at Golds, $100 at Big Als Edmonton. PM me for more info. FYI Just bought a teacup 2 weeks ago. ~Reza~

    Hi all

Welcome to AA Maximus :welcome: ~Reza~
  12. Sorry I misconstruded, just curious, do you need to fit the ten gallon into a smaller area? ~Reza~
  13. Resealing a tank isn't that bad, it just sucks trying to get the silicone off of my fingers without using smelly chemicals.

    Filter canesters

I had to push the hard plastic pieces together with quite some force to get them to join completely, once together though they STAY together. Never had them leak. Only part that has broken was an elbow joint that sat in the water and joins the horizontal outlet to the U-shape piece on the back of the tank. Darn replacement costs about $8 for two from Big Al's. :grr: If you are referring to the plastic hoses then they are also very reliable, for me anyway. Push them over atleast three of the ribs on the base unit and you should be fine. ~Reza~
  15. I agree with African_Fever, re-silicone the tank, cutting the glass introduces far too many problems.

Love my xp3 too. Managed to get Petsmart to pricematch their US website. 140 CAD at the end of the day with tax. Wish they would do it again. ~Reza~
  20. Sorry to hear about your loss. I had a similar experience last year with one of my blue diamond discus, ate and swam like normal the night before, when I awoke I found him dead with no signs of disease/fighting?????? ~Reza~

    syphons

Brass adapter screws into tap, great connection, green unit screws in to brass adapter, great connection. My problem lies just underneath the "nut" that joins to the brass adapter. There is a lot of play and water squirts all over the place. I also don't like how much water is wasted whilst draining the tank, may consider sticking with buckets. ~Reza~

    syphons

I have actually been using the unit with a brass adapter . The leak occurs a few millimitres beneath the tap join, (see diagram). Will try it a few more times. Thanks. ~Reza~

    syphons

Does anyone else have this problem? All washers are in place, plumbing screwed in tightly. When I turn the faucet on a spray of water lightly comes out of the labelled joint. When I leaved the tap on and close end of the hose (tank side) the jet of water is intense. Even when filling the tank with the tank end open unless I want to fill the tank EXTREMELY slowly the adapter leaks. Is this a drawback to python like syphons or do you think I have a dud? Thanks all. ~Reza~

I guess that studying Physics at university hasn't paid off. Of course the hose would collapse, Thanks, you saved me a trip to Wal-Mart. ~Reza~

That's good ot know, thanks. Has anyone tried using a flat hose for this project, I think it would be very easy to store? ~Reza~
