  1. What are you finding difficult about it? I don't find any difference between the old board and the new board besides the different look, a few minor button layout differences and the different pm system. Are you having specific issues that we might be able to help with? The part I find to be a PITA is that i can't just scroll threw the thread to read the replies, when I click on the thread all I get is the OP, if I want to read the replies I have to click on them individually, This takes allot of time when I on my BB or sitting in a hotel room using shared access... "click the thread, read the OP, click the first reply....wait a few for it to load...read the next reply and repeat..." Is there something on the the control panel to activate so I can see the whole thread without going through this whole painful process? TIA, B.
  2. I don't know about everybody else but I think navigating through the site now is a royal PITA, I don't spend much time on here now because of this...
  3. No PM for me... ...I want some porn too
  4. I've tried the excel dip with no success, I even went as far as to dip one of my anubias in a jar with nothing but excel for a few hours and no luck...trimming the leaves is the only thing I've found to work but I have to admit that I have never tried the bleach dip, next time I will.
  5. It's my first time keeping the following fish.... Angels... Greedy little piggies, always begging for food (reminds me of my Oscar) and hovering around the top half of the tank. Rummy Nose tetras, Always out in a school zipping from one side of the tank (Mid) then back to the other...fun to watch. Bloodfins, timid...they only come out at feeding time and only if I'm very still or stay back, when they are out though they shoal in groups of 8-12 and wander back and forth in the lower 3rd of the tank. Whiptails (Farlowella acus)...Nothing fazes them, they just go about their business cleaning the glass, plants and driftwood.
  6. Started a new planted tank about a months ago, Still has a long way to go but here's some pics... livestock... 6 Koi Angels 30 bloodfins 25 rummy nose 2 whiptail cats 8 pepper cory's 4 otto's Equipment... 8 Bags of Seachem Fluorite (4x black 4x dark) 216W T5HO 10lb co2 FX5 -HP spraybar and rex reactor under gravel heat 300W sub heater timers (lights and CO2) Critiques & Comments welcome...
  7. Did you put those snails I gave you in with Syno cats? They'll eat the smaller guys for sure...I have a larger apple snail in my Victoria tank with Synodontis Petricola's, I don't think they like apples (read too big).
  8. No loaches in there, I harvest the snails out of this tank and feed them to my Synodontis P's, I can pull out around 30+ a week without even noticing...
  9. LOL, here's a better pic of the substrate, you can see more Fluorite sand on left side and more of the reg. Fluorite on the right... Started with the Excel dosing, I'm going to try 3ml a day for the next week...
  10. Thanx werner for the ID and link, it was an interesting read. There's allot more in there (20gal) than I initially realized, I've started picking it out of the moss and hiargrass, in no time at all I have a baseball sized wad of it...The only way I think I could get it all was to pull the tank apart but I'm not quite willing to do that yet, I'll try a some Excel and see where that gets me... Thanx for the photo props jewels and the Substrate is a 50/50 mix of "Fluorite Black" and "Fluorite Black Sand".
  11. A couple of months ago I started seeing something growing out of my JavaMoss, it didn't really concerned me at first but now I'm seeing more and more of it all over my shrimp tank, I don't know if it's another plant or some kind of algae...Can you ID it? Long stringy growth with pods that pop open into something like a spore...pic'd just above these shrimp growing out of the moss...
  12. ...was there another post here about the "Red Cross" or am I missing something...
  13. I have two ECCO pro 2236's on my 50gal...But I like going over board when it comes to filters :flex:
  14. Right now I have 5x FX5's, 4 running and one in wait to replace one of my EHIEMs- FX5 is the best lg. volume filter IMO and I've never had a single problem with any of them. 4x EHIEM filters, one ProII which I'm not a fan of (2B replaced w/FX5 soon) 2x ECCO 80's which I think are a good replacement for the ProII series, one classic 2213 which is also great on my small planted/shrimp aquarium... To sum-up, I could not imagine ever going back to an HOB filter but am considering "trying" a sump on my Oscar tank (2x FX5's ATM)...

    Co2 Regulators

I priced out reg's at OxyPro (welding shop where I also get my CO2) the other day, the least expensive regulator they had was $140 without a needle valve, solenoid nor bubble counter.
  16. I'm assuming your reg is a dual gauge unit, one should be your tank/bottle pressure (800-1000 full tank), the other should be your operating pressure (10-20PSI)....I usually wait to get my bottles refilled until they get down to about 100PSI or less (usually empty). Hope that helps... Another helpful tip if your getting your bottles refilled instead of swapping them out... bring your bottles in as cold as possible, you can leave them outside in the winter, put smaller tanks in the freezer before filling or try to leave 100-200 psi in the bottle and quickly bleed it off before you give it to the person filling it, you'll get more CO2 into a cold tank...
  17. All great solutions... Other things I like to use for BBA: EXCEL dips/treatments, trimming off covered leaves, SAE (Siamese Algae Eater) like to snack on it(BBA, staghorn & silk), a UV filter will also clean up free floating algae in your water (green water) and snails for most other algae's...If you want some RH snails I could start you off with a baggy of them and in no time at all you'll have more than you'll ever need, the snails are also great for cleaning up uneaten food and dead plant material. Here's a good read,..."Aquarium Algae".

    Crap!

Sorry to hear that, loosing fish's in bunch's hurts...I've started keeping a bottle of Stability on hand just in case one of mine crashes, it's a quick bandaid that stops the bleeding.
  19. Thanx all for the condolences... I don't know if the tap water has changed lately but my Syno P's have always disliked water changes, I've always tried to add the water slow in their tank as not to shock them and have always added Prime until this last WC...
  20. I buy mine from Natures corner store, here's a link to their conditioners...Natures Corner store, water conditioners
  21. When I started to empty the water from the tank last night I was certain I had another bottle after finishing one off in my O tank, I searched high and low before deciding to refill that tank...I went out first thing this morning and bought a 2L bottle of Prime and 3 new Synodontis petricola from Henry...When I got home I went under the kitchen sink to grab some glass cleaner and guess what I found,...another brand new bottle of prime I looked everywhere but under the damn kitchen sink I'm going to fill up a few smaller bottles and leave one under every tank for future WC's...
  22. It was WC night for me and I ran out of prime just before I did my Victorian tank, I thought it would be no big deal to skip the Prime this one change...wrong...1/3WC without prime and all my Syno cats are belly up...$h1ty night...
