Hey everyone, I'am finally after long months getting the 225 gallon together. The question is I'am building a 3-d background out of foam and am not sure what is the best way to situate my inputs and outputs for the best circulation and filtration. Thanks for any help. P.S I'm running 2 XP 4's, a fluval internal filter and a Hydor powerhead. I may also add some more filtration such as a FX-5 when I get more fish.

Funny you say that Im actually thinking of getting rid of all my females. I have 2 that I can keep for you if you would like they are about 4 inches right now. I think Im going to keep just a male tank like Boom. So I would also have one other male. I will be heading down that way in May as we leave for Jamaica on May 3.

I do have lights in it as my house is very dark. I have lights on all my tanks but that one seems to be the only one with the problem. My discus tank also has no glass cleaners and it never has algae? I change the water in the fry tank and my discus tank by at least 50% every 3 days. I have a female holding in it right now, I think I will try the shrimp.

Just wondering as my fry tank when empty seems to grow green algae.

googled the females and I do have 2 and now both are holding. :thumbs:

Perfect...thats what I thought he was. Are the females silver with yellow on their anal fin and some on their dorsal fin?

My uncle had turtles and they ate everything he put in the pond with them and he kept them well fed. So unless your koi are really big I dont know what chance they would have?

They are on sale at PJs cause they are having some type of Anniversary sale. I checked their website.

I have used LED for my plants but they are the red/blue mix and they are set up just like the ones in the pic. I had 4 panels and the plants grew but very slowly. So in order for my tomatoes to be ready for gardening I ended up with grow bulbs from a hydro shop.

Does seem a bit high..I bought my 225 complete minus fish for $800.00

I was gonna buy fish next week in edmonton but I think I will wait and come to the auction...hopefully by then the 225 will be up and running. Fingers crossed and toes. It will be nice to finally meet some of you!

Just an update. My fry are now almost a month old and are doing well. I only lost one so far and the other female I stripped and got only 5 more babies from her(she is just a very young female).

Im partial to the Renas as that is all I run on my fish tanks. I have one XP4 on my 72 Pirhana tank, plus one on my 75 Cichlid tank and an XP1 on my 30 gallon discus tank. I have never had any problems with them and I have run Renas for about 5 years. I've replaced them not because they have broke down but because I need more filtration from adding or moving different fish.

I will have to change it to cichlid grandma :smokey:
